According to the UN, about 43,000 people have died due to the drought that affected Somalia last year.

The report released jointly by the Somali government and the United Nations shows. Last year Somalia had to face severe drought due to lack of rain.

These people have died due to lack of water. The most tragic situation is that half of the dead were children under 5 years of age, the report said.

The United Nations indicates that another 18,000 to 34,000 deaths may occur in the first 6 months of this year.

In 2011, almost 3 lakh people died due to the drought that affected Somalia.
