President Ranil Wickremesinghe handed over the cheque to Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Zuhair Hamdallah Zaid.
"It is part of the Children of Gaza Fund initiated by President Wickremesinghe, with additional donors contributing," the PMD said.
These funds are scheduled to be formally transferred to the Palestinian government in the coming days,.
