Sri Lanka new Electricity Act enters at final stage of drafting Featured

The new Electricity Act, which will unbundle the Ceylon Electricity Board under restructuring process and begin the reforms, is at the final stage of drafting.

"The amended draft copies will be shared with stakeholders, development agencies, and reforms experts to get their observations and recommendations for the final draft," Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara said.

The final draft will be shared with the Legal Draftsman and the Attorney General's Department for certification by the end of May.

Cabinet approval was granted y for the proposed road map and timeline of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) restructuring process

Approval was also granted to establish a reform secretariat, and obtain the assistance of development agencies such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the process
