Indian tourists to Sri Lanka llow financial transction in INR Featured

Indian tourists visiting Sri Lanka can transact in Indian currency since the Central Bank has made it a designated currency, Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe said.

He said it also enables trade settlement between the two countries . He also expressed support for the linking digital payment interfaces between the two countries. He made these remarks during a webinar.

The Webinar on ‘Economic Scenario of Sri Lanka: Current Status and Way Ahead’, was organized by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI),

The High Commissioner of India Gopal Baglay highlighted the areas of prospective economic cooperation between India and Sri Lanka. He particularly focused on connectivity, IT, renewable energy and tourism
