The affected children, aged between 6 and 13 and residing in the Mihintale area, were admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

According to a hospital spokesperson, the students were initially admitted to Mihintale Hospital for treatment due to sepsis but fell ill after receiving a vaccine there.

The North Central Provincial Health Director has initiated an inquiry into the incident.
