This directive followed a meeting with representatives of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau and the Association of Licensed Foreign Employment Agencies.
In a statement released by the ministry, Manusha Nanayakkara had emphasized the importance of transitioning Sri Lankan migrant workers towards higher-skilled and higher-paying job opportunities.
The move comes amidst growing concerns about the vulnerability of Sri Lankan domestic workers abroad. Reports of abuse, exploitation, and unfair working conditions have prompted calls for reform.
