Sri Lanka Education Ministry introduces a system change with STEAM Featured

Sri Lanka Education System will be undergoing a revolutionary change soon with the introduction of new method of module based education on how to use the theoretical knowledge gained in the class room for the day today practice in their environs, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha disclosed.

The new system STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

A STEAM activity is a lesson that covers one of the core STEAM subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths, Minister Premajayantha said.

It’s a common abbreviation in the education world to reference these important subjects and skills in and out of school he added.

The aim of STEAM is to inculcate the knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics among school children with more experiential learning opportunities integrating it with Arts

They will be given a knowledge on arts practices, elements, design principles, and standards to provide the whole gamut of learning at their disposal. STEAM removes limitations and replaces them with wonder, critique, inquiry, and innovation.
