The Kandy Lake lies almost in the heart of the Kandy city that is located in the beautiful SriLanka. It was made by the King in the early 1800’s. The island in the Lake is one of the prettiest things, with bamboo trees and Palm trees dotting it. The Lake itself is near the Temple of Tooth. There is a pathway for people to walk around the lake. The shady paths around the lake offer nice view of the mountains, lake and the town. The lake is home to many fishes and tortoise. If you keep your eyes open you will also see huge monitor lizards soaking up the sun on trees and stumps. The Walakullu wall was built with the thought that it will increase the beauty of the lake. But the wall lies unfinished as while it was being built, the king lost the war and was forced to give up his kingdom. The Triangular holes that exist in the wall were used to light oil lamps in the bygone Days. Visit the lake for a relaxing evening, just to sit back and soak up the scenic view.
