Victoria Higher Education (Pvt) Limited (VHEL), trading under the name of Victoria higher Education Campus (VHEC) is a wholly privately owned company of Ednet. VHEC is organisationally a franchise campus of the University of Greenwich, offering internal Greenwich honours degrees at bachelor and master degree levels.
EdNet is part of Edulink Consultants, a Dubai based company engaged in higher education since 2004. Dr Butland OBE is the Managing Director of VHEC and a Director of Ednet. Dr. Butland is a former Deputy Vice Chancellor and Deputy CEO of Middlesex University, and was awarded the OBE for his services to UK higher education.
Ednet and Edulink Consultants are specialists in establishing educational establishments and developing branch campuses of renowned international universities and educational institutions throughout the world.
Edulink in collaboration with Middlesex University UK, set up Middlesex University Dubai, which began teaching in January 2005. Dr Butland set up Middlesex University Mauritius Branch Campus in 2010, and Edulink set up Victoria University in Kampala, Uganda (with Buckingham University), which began teaching in 2011. The VHEC Campus Director, Professor Browne set up Plato University of Management and Design (Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia) in 2010. Dr Butland has set up other international partnerships and collaborations that have proved to be successful and stand today as hallmarks of quality education in Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa and Asia. Ednet is currently investigating opportunities in China and Kenya.
The mission of VHEC is to provide a quality British higher education through degree programmes awarded by the University of Greenwich, London, UK, at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, across a range of subjects for students from Sri Lanka, the neighbouring region and further afield.
VHEC is officially registered as a higher education institute with the Ministry of Higher Education of Sri Lanka and is also a sponsored company of the Sri Lankan Board of Investment (BOI).
VHEC is pleased to work in close partnership with other reputable organisations, such as the British Council and the British Computer Society in Sri Lanka.
VHEC works positively and closely with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Higher Education in supporting its aims to be an Educational Hub of Excellence in the region, and has developed strong links with the Ministry.
VHEC actively sponsors scholarships to talented, needy students from its host country and frequently sponsors workshops, conferences and other events in both the secondary and tertiary education sectors.
The vision of VHEC is to be considered one of the best private higher education institutions in Sri Lanka and the region. VHEC will grow and extend its reach through its own endeavours and through strategic partnerships to become an international educational centre for all students throughout the region by consistently delivering a wonderful, high quality, learning experience.
